The better half says hi and hopes you are well. As we all know the price of silver is going where we all hoped but never thought we would see in our lifetimes. But here we are, all that collecting paid off. As you and I collect multiple items of silver, strikes, LBs (which I blame you for that little fun addiction), and Morgans. I thought I would share a quick Morgan story. Some years ago before silver shot past $25 an ounce, I use to buy raw Morgans from a vendor on eBay. This was a great vendor as each and every one of those Morgans graded MS62 or higher, most MS63 (my favorite grade), some 64 or 65. Now that’s a great deal for the price I was paying. Living in CA at the time kept the initial capital investment down as I just dropped off the coins at the LB coin show every year. If the truth be told, I stopped having things graded as I just ran out of room to store them. Bill once told me that his floor collapsed at his place because of the weight. We should all have that problem. To make a long story even longer, just the other day, right before silver shot through the roof, I found some interesting BU Morgans in a random estate sale auction online. The price was right and I snatched them up for less than cull value at the time. No great dates but some amazing beauties. There was a bit of trepidation as I didn’t know the vendor of the auction but, as I said, the price was too good to pass up. I finally sent them in for grading before Thanksgiving, and yes, it took over 2 months to get them back, but all graded MS62-64. See me smiling?
Hope you enjoyed the story and hope to see you soon.
