Re: I agree with Sarge!

Hello,
I should change the wording in my last post for value number 3, (It all boils down to one thing, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it). It should now say "it all boils down to what someone is willing to pay for it AND what someone is willing to take".
Best offers are not always best offers. I get offers all the time and I decline. Here is why:
Example number 1: I had an item listed for $100 and it weighed 5 pounds. The only offer I got was for $5. I sent an e-mail and told the person it would cost more than his $5 to ship. They responded it would only cost $6.95 to ship. Oh gee should I sell him something for $5 when it will cost $6.95 to ship? Lets not count the Ebay fees, Paypal fees, package material, etc.
Example number 2: I have the $40 Trump Plaza Babe Ruth strikes listed for $2500 each (I know this is high). The only offer I got for the one was $5 (it wasn't the same guy as example #1). Am I supposed to accept this offer because it was the only offer I received? What if someone offered $6? This would have been the best offer.
If sellers had to always take the highest offer then I now offer to buy every $7 and $10 silver strike for face value from everybody. Let's see how many people jump on that offer and sell me their strikes. I can then take and scrap them for at least $11 each.
I know that all buyers want to pay the minimum and all sellers want to get paid the maximum. Trying to find that happy medium is the hard part.
