COPPER RIMS - VS- NEW STRIKES

I have just received a bunch of the new issues, from the Barbary Coast, The Frontier and the New Binion strikes. They are beautiful new strikes. I have also received a lot of the Copper Colored Rim strikes and it is obvious these are not new strikes but older strikes that have, in some way, been treated. There has been some discussion about using the new colored rims to spike strike machine play, which it certainly has done and with the exception of the actual new issues, like the Reno Hilton, these Copper Colored Rim strikes that I am getting are not new strikes, but older strikes that have been treated in some way, either by a reheating process or something. In 1999 a bunch of new strikes were issued with Copper Colored Rims, but they were new strikes, like the Reno Airports and the Hard Rocks. Just courious who has what to say on the subject, because it is pretty clear when you compare new issues to the copper ones that the coppers are older strikes, have been around for awhile and just have a newly painted, heated or acquired rim. Any info on this topic?
