It seems we have a most interesting dilemma.
Mr. Vegasplayer is correct that by calling attention to a particular auction additional buyers will find and bid on an item driving up the final selling price. On the flip side a seller calling attention to his or her auctions also encourages more buyers to participate resulting in higher selling prices. This benefits the seller and not the buyer. The purpose of a message base such as this is to encourage and nurture a hobby. My intent was to assist new collectors. I think most would agree an admirable thing to do. None the less a solution exists and has been instituted by other message bases. Ban the reference to auctions. This reduces large numbers of competitive messages and eliminates hard feelings between users. All this may be a moot point since ebay allows the search of users and sellers so one may track bidding as well as selling. It is all there for all to see in every case.
