You being a friend of a FORMER Marine should know that his staff sergeant rank patches are up side down in your scan. The small stripes are hash marks denoting the number of years he has been in the Corps and the others are helicpoter squadron patches...the squadron patches have some collector value, the others are current styles and common....Being around Oceanside you must see hundreds of Marines in uniform....
